While Thursday Night Football featured a non-competitive matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers, the rest of Week 5 promises to be more entertaining. The slate of games on Sunday features plenty to be excited about, though the best games are reserved for the afternoon slate.
NFL schedule 2014, Week 5: Texans vs. Cowboys, Bengals vs. Patriots highlight Sunday’s action
There’s plenty of action for Week 5 in the NFL, not the least of which includes a surprising showdown between 3-1 teams in the Houston Texans and the Dallas Cowboys.

Still, the early games are not without their highlights. The Chicago Bears will be taking on the Carolina Panthers as both teams search for their third win after surprisingly lackluster seasons thus far. That one should be plenty entertaining, while the 3-1 Houston Texans take on the 3-1 Dallas Cowboys. Needless to say, those records are even more surprising than the Panthers/Bears records. Nobody expected either of these two teams to be 3-1, but after Sunday, one of them will have four wins.
In the afternoon, all three games are worth watching. The undefeated Arizona Cardinals will be taking on the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos. Drew Stanton isn't exactly a great quarterback by any means, but the Cardinals are still finding a way to win. Then the New York Jets will take on the San Diego Chargers, in a matchup that obviously favors the latter team. Finally, the San Francisco 49ers will play host to the Alex Smith-led Kansas City Chiefs. Suffice to say there's a bit of a storyline there.
In the night game, the best game of the week will be played when the 3-0 Cincinnati Bengals take on Tom Brady and the 2-2 New England Patriots.
