Buzz Bissinger has written some very good things before, so perhaps he could be forgiven for an awkward piece published last June profiling Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, in which the acclaimed (and often vitriolic) writer and journalist called Foles “chickenshit,” among other things. The attack on Foles’ character was seemingly fueled in part because the quarterback denied Bissinger an interview.
Buzz Bissinger still hates Nick Foles, for some reason
Foles denied Bissinger an interview once, and the author is still insanely upset about it.

The backlash to the profile died down in the months since, until Monday, when Bissinger went on air with 94WIP and blasted Foles again for his poor start to the season through five games (for a 4-1 team, mind you). The comments went beyond run-of-the-mill criticism, and dipped into vendetta territory.
There is no question now that Bissinger took it personally when Foles decided not to talk.
“I got pride. Now? You think I want to interview him now?” Bissinger said. “I would rather interview the Eagle mascot. Forget it. You know, the guy had his chance and he blew it. He had his chance to be interviewed by one of the greatest journalists of the country.”
Bissinger demanded an apology from Eagles fans, saying he felt "vindicated" for the piece he published last June. Bissinger's outsized hate for Foles appears centered on the fact that the quarterback is sort of quiet:
“[Foles] has got a timid personality, and anyone who thinks that does not spill over into how you play the game is ridiculous ... when [Riley] Cooper drops that pass early in the game, a quarterback should get in his face and say, ‘You know, you have to make those plays!’ and not be milquetoast about it. He will not do that.”
Not yelling at your teammates means you are not a Super Bowl-caliber quarterback, apparently. Bissinger didn't mention that the Eagles are tied with three other teams for the best record in the NFL at the moment, or that many would point to the Eagles' tattered offensive line as a reason for their offensive struggles (he hasn't taken LeSean McCoy to task yet), or that Foles hasn't played terribly (1,380 yards passing, eight touchdown, five interception) especially if you forgive him for a tough road start against an excellent San Francisco 49ers defense.
But I guess this isn’t really about Foles.
