Many things went wrong for the Pittsburgh Steelers during Sunday's loss to the New York Jets, including an attempt to score from the one-yard line in the fourth quarter. On first-and-goal from a yard away, linebacker James Harrison was in the game as a blocking tight end, and he appeared to be Ben Roethlisberger's target on a play that ended with an incompletion and a defensive penalty.
Ben Roethlisberger didn’t know James Harrison was playing offense
James Harrison was in the game as a tight end, but Ben Roethlisberger says that wasn’t supposed to happen.
According to Roethlisberger, Harrison wasn’t even supposed to be on the field, a recurring problem for the Steelers. The two-time Pro Bowl quarterback told Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that the team had issues getting the correct personnel on the field. Harrison, however, disagreed with the notion that he wasn’t supposed to be on the field for the play.
“He’s not supposed to be in on that play,” Roethlisberger said after the Steelers’ 20-13 loss to the New York Jets. “The players didn’t play well, but we had issues getting the right guys in.”
Harrison denied he was incorrectly on the field, saying, “I don’t know why he’d say that. ... (That’s) been in for like four weeks.”

The Steelers settled for a field goal on the drive to cut the score to 20-6, and an 80-yard touchdown from Roethlisberger to Martavis Bryant with 1:16 remaining made the game appear close. The Steelers couldn't get the ensuing onside kick though, and the Jets held on for a 20-13 victory to improve to 2-8 while Pittsburgh slid to 6-4.
It was a disappointing loss for the Steelers, as the team is in the midst of an extremely close AFC North race with three other teams with winning records. In fact, the 6-4 record for the Steelers drops the team to last in the divisional race, while a victory and 7-3 record would have placed the team in first.
Among those who were disappointed Sunday was Snoop Dogg, who hoped to see Roethlisberger “get it together.” Big Ben finished 30-of-43 passing on Sunday with 343 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions
