Mark Sanchez celebrates Eagles’ win at Philly cheesesteak shops

Sanchez celebrated his first win as the Eagles’ starting quarterback in classic Philadelphia fashion: with a cheesesteak.

Before Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez took the field Monday night against the Carolina Panthers, he told ESPN analyst Jon Gruden that he had never had a Philly cheesesteak. After beating the Panthers 45-21, Sanchez broke through that personal barrier by stopping off at both Geno's and Pat's, the two most famous cheesesteak shops in Philadelphia, per Katherine Scott of ABC 6.

Sanchez promised fans he would grab a cheesesteak if the Eagles won and made good on his promise. Why wouldn't Sanchez feel up for it after looking solid against Carolina? The former Jets signal caller made his first start for the Eagles and completed 20 of 37 attempts for 332 yards and two touchdowns. Most importantly, Sanchez avoided any turnovers.

After signing a one-year deal in the offseason to become the backup quarterback to Nick Foles, Sanchez has an opportunity to resurrect his career under offensive guru Chip Kelly. Perhaps meeting up with some fans to chow down was a way for Sanchez to connect with the fans after being booed out of New York, despite leading the Jets to a pair of AFC Championship appearances in his first two seasons.
