Eagles vs. Packers 2014 picks and predictions: Green Bay should remain perfect at Lambeau

The Packers are the consensus pick to beat the Eagles in a showdown between two of the NFC’s best teams at Lambeau Field.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers are undefeated at Lambeau Field this season and, after a slow start, look like one of the league's elite teams. So it is hardly a surprise that most of the NFL experts are picking the Packers to roll at home against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon.

This game has important NFC playoff implications for both teams. The Packers are 6-3 and sit one game back of the Detroit Lions in the NFC North, and would actually be watching the playoffs at home if the season ended today. Green Bay cannot afford to fall further behind the Lions in the division race, and a victory would send a message to the rest of the league that the Packers are primed to make a deep postseason run. Aaron Rodgers is playing the best football of his career, leading the league in Total QBR (85.5) and passer rating (120.1), and has the Packers' offense back on track after it averaged just 18 points per game in the first three weeks of the season.

The Eagles (7-2) own a half-game lead over the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East and are firmly in the hunt for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Philly didn't miss a beat in Week 10 with Mark Sanchez under center, dominating the Carolina Panthers in a 45-21 rout on Monday night. The former Jets quarterback looked like a bona fide star in Chip Kelly's fast-paced offensive system, throwing for 332 yards and two touchdowns in his first start since 2012. He will be tested this week against a Packers secondary that has picked off at least two passes in five of nine games this season, and ranks in the top 10 in passing yards allowed per game.

One guy at ESPN is predicting a road upset by the Eagles, while all eight experts at CBS Sports have the Packers remaining perfect at home.

Our panel at SB Nation similarly favors the Packers, with only Ryan Van Bibber and the OddsShark computer picking Philly to get its eighth win of the season.
