For Washington and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 2014 season has proven to be a disappointment. Both came into the campaign with new head coaches and a sense of enthusiasm, only to see injuries and losses mount from the start. The Buccaneers find themselves surprisingly vying for the top pick in next year's NFL Draft, while Washington is simply trying to keep out of the NFC East basement.
Buccaneers vs. Washington 2014: Online streaming, time, TV schedule and radio
With little on the line, Tampa Bay and Washington get together in a battle for respect.
Tampa Bay is 1-8 and has not received many uplifting performances, but rookie receiver Mike Evans is proving to be a keeper. The first-round pick out of Texas A&M is leading the team in receiving with 585 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 15 yards per reception. Veteran receiver Vincent Jackson is also playing solid football with 40 catches and 518 yards, including two scores.
The defense has been a sieve, allowing 277.1 passing yards per game, 31st in the league. The largest issue however has been quarterback Josh McCown, who the Buccaneers signed in the offseason. McCown has only played in four games but thrown four touchdowns against six interceptions.
Washington has also dealt with injuries and underwhelming performances at the quarterback spot. Robert Griffin III sustained an ankle injury early in Week 2, allowing Kirk Cousins an elongated shot at starting. Cousins bombed for the most part, tossing 10 touchdowns but also nine picks. Cousins was eventually benched for third-stringer Colt McCoy before Griffin returned to action in Week 9 for a loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
