NFL Draft order 2015: AFC North tightly bunched; Saints drop 15 spots

Parity and the terrible NFC South is making the draft order go crazy.

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

The parity running rampant in the NFL is even evident in the draft order. Half of the teams in the NFL have a record between 4-6 and 6-3-1. How tight are things in the draft order? The three AFC North teams not in the playoffs, the Browns, Steelers and Ravens are currently slotted to pick 15th, 16th and 17th, respectively.

Speaking of the Browns, the first-round pick they're getting from the Bills as part of the Sammy Watkins trade gets better every week. Three weeks ago that pick was No. 25. Now that the Bills have lost two games in a row, it's up to being pick No. 14.

For now, the top five picks remain the same from last week. That could change after the Titans and Steelers play on Monday Night Football. If the Titans lose, they would move up a spot to the fourth pick in the draft.

How crazy is the draft order right now? Last week the Falcons had the No. 6 pick. Now that they lead the putrid NFC South, they're at No. 25. The Saints, meanwhile, went from No. 25 to No. 10 by dropping out of the NFC South lead with a loss.

Current 2015 NFL Draft order:

1. Oakland Raiders - 0-10 0 (.606 SOS)
2. Jacksonville Jaguars - 1-9 (.525 SOS)
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 2-8 (.481 SOS)
4. New York Jets - 2-8 (.553 SOS)
5. Tennessee Titans - 2-7 (.487 SOS)
6. Washington Redskins - 3-7 (.497 SOS)
7. New York Giants - 3-7 (.528 SOS)
8. Carolina Panthers - 3-7-1 (.506 SOS)
9. Minnesota Vikings - 4-6 (.484 SOS)
10. New Orleans Saints - 4-6 (.500 SOS)
11. Chicago Bears - 4-6 (.522 SOS)
12. St. Louis Rams - 4-6 (.550 SOS)
13. Houston Texans - 5-5 (.436 SOS)
14. Cleveland Browns (via Buffalo Bills) - 5-5 (.531 SOS)
15. Cleveland Browns - 6-4 (.455 SOS)
16. Pittsburgh Steelers - 6-4 (.468 SOS)
17. Baltimore Ravens - 6-4 (.500 SOS)
18. San Diego Chargers - 6-4 (.506 SOS)
19. San Francisco 49ers - 6-4 (.538 SOS)
20. Seattle Seahawks - 6-4 (.553 SOS)

PROJECTED TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS:
21. Miami Dolphins - 6-4 (.493 SOS)
22. Dallas Cowboys - 7-3 (.459 SOS)
23. Green Bay Packers - 7-3 (.484 SOS)
24. Kansas City Chiefs - 7-3 (.509 SOS)
25. Atlanta Falcons - 4-6 (.494 SOS)
26. Indianapolis Colts - 6-4 (.487 SOS)
27. Cincinnati Bengals - 6-3-1 (.506 SOS)
28. Philadelphia Eagles - 7-3 (.475 SOS)
29. Detroit Lions - 7-3 (.478 SOS)
30. Denver Broncos - 7-3 (.531 SOS)
31. New England Patriots - 8-2 (.503 SOS)
32. Arizona Cardinals - 9-1 (.513 SOS)

How the order is established: If teams in the draft order have the same record, strength of schedule is used. If that is the same, division record is used if the teams are in the same division. If those are all equal, conference record is used if the teams are in the same conference. If teams in two different conferences have the same record and strength of schedule, draft order is determined by a coin flip at the NFL Scouting Combine.
