Marshawn Lynch's time with the Seattle Seahawks may be winding down, but the running back was hesitant to declare anything about his future with the team. In fact, he was hesitant to say he knows much of anything about his future with the team and told media "I just play the game," according to Adam Silver of NFL Network.
Marshawn Lynch doesn’t know what his future is with the Seahawks
Lynch told the media “I just play the game” and he doesn’t know what his future with the Seahawks is after the 2014 season.

The four-time Pro Bowl running back racked up 124 yards on 24 carries in a losing effort against the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, one week after tallying 140 yards on 21 carries against the New York Giants. The moment that raised eyebrows, though, was Lynch's decision to stay on the field at Arrowhead Stadium for all of halftime rather than join his teammates in the locker room.
Lynch said that it was fatigue that kept him from leaving the field, telling NFL Network’s Michael Robinson he “couldn’t walk.“ The tension on the field matches reports of tension off it, as there is apparently a lack of communication between Lynch and Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.
When asked Sunday about his relationship with Carroll, Lynch shrugged it off, like he does with most questions from the media (a group he isn’t particularly fond of):
When I asked Lynch on Sunday if he and Carroll speak, he replied, “Pete’s my head coach. Well, I mean, you know, he’s really not in my position meetings. ... It ain’t like we get to chop it up like that.”
Lynch's contract with the Seahawks runs through the 2015 season, but the team can save $7 million by releasing him in the offseason. With Seattle at 6-4 and three games behind the Arizona Cardinals for the NFC West lead, that means Lynch could have just six games left in his career with the team that acquired him via trade from the Buffalo Bills in 2010.
He doesn’t believe the season will end for the team in six more games, though. When asked if the Seahawks are a team capable of winning the Super Bowl again, he was adamant the team could run the table in back-to-back years.
"Is this a championship team? Yeah, yeah, we've got the heart of a champion," he said. "When you've got players like Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor -- you're about to make me name the whole damn roster -- aand there's some young guys whose names a lot of people don't know who bring a lot of fight. I always look at the best of our team. So ... hell yeah. I would have to be a fool to say no."
Lynch ranks 41st in NFL history in career rushing yardage with 8,202 and can pass Herschel Walker with just 24 yards against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 12.
