Sergio Brown responds to Rob Gronkowski hit on Twitter

His tweets didn’t stay up for long, however.

Indianapolis Colts safety Sergio Brown found himself on the receiving end of a nasty, illegal block by Rob Gronkowski Sunday night. The New England Patriots tight end carted Brown off the field of play while blocking on a Jonas Gray touchdown run, driving the safety into several cameramen and earning a flag in the process. Unhappy with the play, Brown fired back on his Twitter account Monday.

In his since-deleted tweets, Brown called out Gronk for managing only one catch against him in Week 11. He further harped on the NFL and NFL Players Association for “glorifying” the penalized block on Instagram.

Though Brown’s remarks can no longer be found on Twitter, several users screen captured his tweets before he took them down.

As noted by CSN New England, Brown and Gronkowski share a history. They were teammates on the Patriots in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, Brown broke Gronkowski's arm while the tight end was blocking on an extra point play. As for Sunday, Gronk claims that Brown was "yapping" the entire game, enticing him to take a cheap shot when the opportunity presented itself.

Though he only caught one pass when matched up with Brown, Gronkowski still had a productive night against the Colts secondary. He had four receptions for a team-high 71 yards and a touchdown in New England’s 42-20 win.
