How to watch Washington vs. Vikings 2014 online: Time, TV schedule, radio and live stream

Two teams coming off overtime wins will face off when the Vikings host Washington.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

After slow starts to this season, both the Minnesota Vikings and Washington will be trying to build off of Week 8 wins when the two square off in Week 9. Washington is coming off an upset win in overtime against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. Led by backup quarterback Colt McCoy in his first start for the team, Washington won just its third game this year.

Jay Gruden's team will try to claim its fourth win when it travels to TCF Bank Stadium to take on Minnesota. Gruden, the former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator, will face off for the first time against Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, formerly the Bengals' defensive coordinator. The Vikings are coming off an overtime win of their own, this one against the lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers, to improve to 3-5 this season. Whether they're good enough to make it to the postseason remains to be seen -- they're currently looking up at the 6-2 Detroit Lions and 5-3 Green Bay Packers in the NFC North.

Washington also enters the game at 3-5 and hopes to ride the momentum of beating the rival Cowboys on the road. Despite McCoy's efficiency -- he's completed 85.7 percent of his passes in a game and a half of action -- the team is still waiting on starting quarterback Robert Griffin III to return. Since dislocating his ankle in Week 2, RG3 hasn't played in the past six games, but could make his return against Minnesota this week.

The game is expected to be more of a defensive matchup, with both teams ranked in the bottom third of the league in scoring. Washington averages 21.4 points per game and Minnesota puts up 17.4. Their defenses, however, have proven to be strengths. The Vikings are No. 8 in the NFL in yards allowed, and Washington is No. 11.
