Jadeveon Clowney will miss more time, as the Houston Texans outside linebacker was ruled out from playing in a Week 9 game against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, according to Ian Rappaport of NFL.com and John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. After playing in Week 8, Clowney was listed on the practice report as having a knee injury and an illness.
Jadeveon Clowney inactive vs. Eagles
Jadeveon Clowney’s return to the field was short-lived, as the rookie outside linebacker will be back on the sidelines for Week 9.

While Texans head coach Bill O’Brien wasn’t optimistic about Clowney’s status earlier in the week, he later declared the rookie as a game-time decision, although most expected him to be inactive, which ultimately became reality. The team is growing increasingly frustrated with the rookie, per a report from Rappaport.
Clowney, 21, was the No. 1 overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft, but has seen very limited time in 2014 due to injuries. After suffering a knee injury in Week 1 that required minor surgery, Clowney sat and recovered until he made his return in Week 8.
In just two games, Clowney has yet to register a sack and has just two tackles to his name on the stat sheet. With Clowney out, the Texans will continue to rely on 2012 first-round pick, Whitney Mercilus, to provide production from the team's JACK linebacker position.
