In a way, it would be poetic justice. A year after the 10-6 Cardinals were stiffed on a playoff spot in the brutally competitive NFC West, they could all but end the playoff hopes of the same team that won the division and helped keep them out: the Seattle Seahawks.

Can the Seahawks keep their dimming playoffs hopes alive against their division rival?

While the Seahawks would still have a mathematical pulse, a loss to the division-leading (and league leading!), 9-1 Cardinals would put Seattle’s postseason dreams on life support. At 6-5, they’d be four games back in the division and likely two games out of the wild card (Green Bay and Philadelphia, the two current wild card leaders, play Minnesota and Tennessee this weekend).
Win, however, and those dimming hopes of repeating as Super Bowl champs stay lit.
The chances of that happening will likely come down to the Seahawks' ability to get their powerful ground attack going against the Cardinals' dominant run defense -- the proverbial unstoppable force vs. immovable object. Thanks to the punishing running of Marshawn Lynch, Seattle ranks first in both yards per game (174.2) and yards per attempt (5.5). Arizona, meanwhile, has overcome what should have been back-breaking losses to its front seven (linebacker Daryl Washington was suspended for the year; defensive tackle Darnell Dockett tore his ACL) to hold opponents to just 80.5 rushing yards per game, third-best in the league.
