In the early round of games, the Lions went to New England and were embarrassed. One week after losing a tight game to the Cardinals, the Detroit offense sputtered against the Patriots, who haven’t lost since Week 4. Elsewhere, the Ryan Mallett struggled in his second start with the Houston Texans, going just 21-for-45 passing in a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
In the late afternoon shift, Arizona heads to Seattle. The defending Super Bowl champs are on the ropes after a tough loss to the Chiefs and desperately need a win to climb back into NFC West contention. There is also Miami-Denver, which pits one of the league’s better defenses against a Broncos offense that only scored seven points in a surprise loss to the Rams last week.
