Once thought to be legitimate Super Bowl contenders, the New Orleans Saints sit three games under .500, tied for first place in the NFC South only through the epic ineptitude of the rest of their division. It's no surprise that they're heavy underdogs against the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road this Sunday.
NFL picks and predictions, Saints vs. Steelers 2014: Pittsburgh favored at home
The stalling Saints are expected to struggle in tough conditions in the Steel City.
That this game takes place in the frigid late-November air of Pennsylvania certainly has something to do with the dome-dwelling Saints being dismissed by experts, but the Saints have even seen their intimidating home-field advantage fail them in recent weeks. They’ve dropped three consecutive games in New Orleans, snapping an 11-game home winning streak over the past year and a half.
The Steelers have won each of their last three home games, including blowouts over the Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts. An offense that was once scoring-challenged has posted at least 27 points in all but one of its last five games, though it's worth noting that the one misstep came in a 20-13 loss to the putrid New York Jets.
The game is a clean sweep among experts at both SB Nation and FOX Sports, while one panelist picked the Saints at ESPN and two went with the visiting team at CBS Sports. Here’s the list for our SB Nation guys.
