For the Indianapolis Colts, the road to the playoffs is paved nicely. The AFC South is far from a minefield for Andrew Luck and the boys, allowing for a misstep or two without repercussion. The New York Giants are not nearly as fortunate, playing in the brutal NFC East. At 3-4, New York is 2.5 games out of the lead and can't afford to slip this week with a trip to Seattle on the docket, followed by a home date against the San Francisco 49ers.

Andrew Luck and Eli Manning square off on MNF in a game both teams are hungry for.

The Colts are one of the more prolific teams in football, sporting a terrific defense until last week. Against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis allowed 51 points and 522 passing yards to Ben Roethlisberger, snapping the Colts' five-game winning streak. Despite not getting a snap out of the suspended-then-injured Robert Mathis, the Colts are ninth in the league with 21 sacks, led by second-year linebacker Bjoern Werner. Werner has four sacks through eight games after amassing 2.5 in 13 games last year.
New York is trying to discover its identity. Entering Week 9, the Giants were 23rd in yards per pass attempts and 27th in rushing yards per carry. Eli Manning is limited behind an inconsistent offensive line which fell apart vs. Philadelphia in Week 6, giving up eight sacks in a 27-0 defeat. Victor Cruz was also lost for the season that night, leaving an inexperienced receiving group to lead the way, highlighted by Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle. Defensively, the Giants have lacked a pass rush, something that will be a major problem when facing Luck, who paces the league with 2,731 passing yards.
