Mark Sanchez emerged from hiding Sunday to help lead the Philadelphia Eagles over the Houston Texans. Sanchez's big day brought out pot shots at the New York Jets, who spent four seasons trying to mold Sanchez into a franchise quarterback to no avail.
Drew Bledsoe equates playing quarterback for the Jets to being a sacrificial virgin
Hot takes are out in full force following Mark Sanchez’s big day for Philadelphia on Sunday.

Former New England Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe spoke to ESPN Radio, and chided his former division rivals for their long tradition of problems under center, via the New York Daily News:
“Going to play quarterback for the Jets ... it’s kind of like, you know when they used to take the pretty young virgin up to the edge of the volcano and then just throw them in?” Bledsoe said. “That’s kind of what it is when you play quarterback for the Jets. It just feels bad.”
The Jets are an easy target at the moment. With a 1-8 record, they are inarguably one of the worst teams in the NFL. Their minus-98 point differential is the second-worst in the league ahead of just the Jacksonville Jaguars. Quarterback issues have undergone the most scrutiny. Geno Smith, the franchise's second-round pick in 2013, was benched this past week in favor of Michael Vick due to his wildly uneven play this season.
Sanchez, meanwhile, should start the next few games for the Eagles with starter Nick Foles out several weeks with a broken collarbone. Sanchez made his first appearance since 2012 when he entered Sunday's game in the second quarter, and he played well, going 15-for-22 for 202 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions, but one was the fault of a dropped pass.
Bledsoe gave Sanchez his full support and was optimistic that he could succeed with another franchise:
“Mark had to live with that for a long time,” Bledsoe said. “And people threw him under the bus like he was the whole reason for the demise of the Jets.
“To see him be able to come on to the field in a good system, with good talent and perform well, I’m just really happy for him.”
