Cincinnati Bengals running back Jeremy Hill was not impressed with the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night, despite his team being pounded 24-3 at Paul Brown Stadium. Hill, who rushed for 55 yards on 12 carries with a fumble, took shots at Cleveland after the game, per Coley Harvey of ESPN.
Bengals RB Jeremy Hill says Browns ‘worse than I thought’ after losing by 21 points
Cincinnati’s rookie back did not care for Cleveland after the game, walking away with an interesting take.
“Oh no, not at all. They’re probably worse than I thought, to be honest with you.”
“They didn’t do anything special to me,” Hill continued. “I mean, respect to them, they won the game. But that’s all I’ll give them.”
Browns punter Spencer Lanning responded:
What's a Jeremy Hill? "@AroundTheNFL: Jeremy Hill says Browns are ’not that good’ and 'worse than I thought’ http://t.co/HgBrgLlS7k"
— Spencer Lanning (@LanningSpencer) November 7, 2014 Hill was spelling Giovani Bernard for the second consecutive game, with Bernard recovering from multiple injuries. A second-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft out of LSU, Hill has provided a physical style. Through nine games this season, Hill has rushed for 404 yards on 4.7 yards per carry and five touchdowns.
For the Browns, it was their first divisional road win since 2008, back when Derek Anderson was quarterback. The victory vaulted them to a 6-3 record and a tie for first place in the AFC North while the Bengals dropped to 5-3-1. Since coming back into the NFL in 1999, it is the first time Cleveland is 6-3. Regardless, Hill wasn't ready to give credit when asked if Cleveland was better than originally thought.
“Those guys, they’re not that good,” he said. “It was on us [Thursday]. We gave them the game, in my opinion. They didn’t do anything special. We just gave them the game. They just sat back with coverage the whole day.”
Luckily, the two teams will play again, this time in Cleveland on Dec. 14.
