The O.co Coliseum in Oakland, notably beset by pest and sewage problems, is one of the older and grimier venues in the NFL. So it’s not particularly surprising that the media arrived for the Raiders’ Week 10 game against the Broncos and were greeted by a dead rat in the press box.
Broncos, Raiders media greeted by dead rat in Oakland Coliseum press box
A reminder that the Oakland Coliseum is not the nicest, fanciest place.

Was odd smell in press box. A rat had expired in row behind me. Given sewage problems I wondered if rat was leader of Mutant Ninja Turtles
— Troy Renck (@TroyRenck) November 9, 2014 My man Rod Mackey is reporting that there's a dead rat in the Raiders press box. No joke. Love this place!!!
— Vic Lombardi (@VicLombardi) November 9, 2014 Rats roaming through different sports venues isn’t a new phenomenon, but it’s a little more rare to have expired rats lying around the press box. You would think that someone may have checked or cleaned that up prior to the press arriving for the Broncos’ game, but maybe this latest pest problem just adds to the Coliseum’s, ahem, classic charms. No photos have surfaced yet so here’s our interpretation of the scene.
Dead rats in the press box are not very pleasant, but it’s preferable to the raw sewage that’s flowed into and through the clubhouses on multiple occasions during A’s games the past couple years.
