Carson Palmer suffered a non-contact injury in the Arizona Cardinals' game against the St. Louis Rams today, and it could be bad -- reportedly a torn ACL. The man next up for the team with the NFL's best record is Drew Stanton.
Bruce Arians says the Cardinals can win a Super Bowl with Drew Stanton
Super Bowl-winning quarterback Drew Stanton? The Cardinals believe.

Can they continue being the league’s best team with Stanton in charge? According to their coach, sure:
Bruce Arians: "There is no doubt in my mind we can win a Super Bowl with Drew Stanton." Told to @SI_PeterKing
— Tom Leyden (@TomLeyden) November 10, 2014 On the one hand: What else is the coach going to say? It's not like he's going to say "well we're pretty much gonna lose every game from here on out."
On the other: picture the Super Bowl trophy presentation. Picture Roger Goodell handing the Lombardi Trophy to ... career backup Drew Stanton. It just feels weird. But as good as the Cardinals have been this year, it’s possible. We guess.
Arians also hyped up Stanton after today’s Stanton-led win over the Rams:
AZ's Bruce Arians to QB Drew Stanton: "Drew, I'd give you a game ball. But hell, everyone expected you to do that." http://t.co/UXda6qgWrC
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) November 10, 2014 The players backed up Arians:
Cardinals players told me there is little to no drop off from Carson Palmer to Drew Stanton. Feel confident in Drew leading them.
— Matt Miller (@nfldraftscout) November 10, 2014 Glass half full: The Cardinals have won three of the four games in which Stanton has played, and his touchdown toss to John Brown on his first today put the Cardinals in front for good. Glass half-empty: He was their quarterback in the only game they lost. Stanton’s completing slightly under 50 percent of his passes on the year, although he has three touchdowns and no picks. On his career, the 2007 second-round draft pick has completed 53.5 percent with eight touchdowns and nine interceptions.
