Tom Brady says the Patriots missed opportunity of a lifetime vs. Packers

Tom Brady said after a 26-21 loss to the Packers that players wait their “whole life for moments like” the Patriots’ final drive and opportunity to win.

Facing a five-point deficit, the New England Patriots took the field with an opportunity to take the lead in the fourth quarter. Instead, the Green Bay Packers' defense held the Patriots to a field-goal attempt that was pushed wide right and the Green Bay offense never allowed Tom Brady to touch the ball again, finishing off a 26-21 win.

After the game, Brady said the New England offense deserved the blame for the loss because 21 points isn’t enough to beat a team with the offensive capabilities of the Packers.

There were multiple chances for the Patriots, but it was the failure to cap the fourth-quarter drive with points that stuck with Brady most. So much so, that the nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback called it the moment of a lifetime, via CSN New England:

“I like to win, I like to go out there and compete,” Brady said. “This is just, you couldn’t ask for anything more than this opportunity today. You have your whole life for moments like this, and we just came up short.”

The drive started for the Patriots on the their own 28-yard line, and nine plays later the team was set up with a first-and-10 on the opposite 21-yard line. A 1-yard run and incomplete pass were followed by a sack that killed the promising drive and forced the Patriots to settle for a 47-yard field goal that was no good.

“I just wish we won this one,” Brady said. “I think we put a lot into this one. This was just a great test for us. I think the guys knew how important it was for our season. You hate to have the ball there, 20-yard line, with under three minutes and a chance to go ahead and not do it. So I think that sucked.”

Brady finished the game 22-of-35 passing for 245 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions as the Patriots fell to 9-3 on the year. The Packers improved to 9-3.
