49ers vs. Seahawks 2014 picks and predictions: Experts unanimously picking Seattle

The San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks usually combine for solid matchups, but experts think the Seahawks will dominate in Sunday’s game.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks haven't looked as dominant as they did a season ago, but after some early season struggles, they're in the middle of a heated battle for the NFC West. They're also in a great position to snag a wild card berth if they can't catch up to the Arizona Cardinals in the division. Arizona was victorious against the St. Louis Rams on Thursday Night Football this week, so the pressure is on for the Seahawks to keep pace, a game behind.

On Sunday, it'll be a tall task given the team they've got to face: the San Francisco 49ers. Seattle already downed the 49ers once this season, but these two teams are basically built to face each other and anything can happen when they play. Seattle completely stifled the 49ers in Week 13, winning 19-3. It's going to be even tougher for the 49ers to win given this one will be played in Seattle, one of the toughest places to play in the NFL.

For the 49ers, this game obviously has playoff implications, however slim. They’re sitting at 7-6 on the season, out of the discussion for the division lead, but still technically in wild card talks. A whole lot would need to go right for them to make it into the postseason. That doesn’t mean there’s not plenty reason to fight for everyone involved, however. San Francisco is facing a slew of issues on the offensive side of the ball and rumblings of discontent within the coaching staff and front office.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh may not be around for much longer, and quarterback Colin Kaepernick is struggling in every aspect of his game. The 49ers need to see some improvement before the season is up.

Despite how difficult the games between these two teams go, no experts are siding with the 49ers at this point. All 13 of the experts with ESPN, all eight of the experts with CBS Sports and all six of those picking for FOX Sports are picking the Seahawks to hold at home and move to double digit wins on the season.

It’s the same situation here at SB Nation, where all of the experts picking are going with the home team.
