Raiders ready to make ‘sweeping changes’ in organization, per report

Mark Davis is ready to make big changes in the Raiders’ organization and that could mean Reggie McKenzie’s job is in jeopardy.

Oakland Raiders' owner Mark Davis is ready to make "sweeping changes" to fix his team and that could involve parting ways with general manager Reggie McKenzie, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter

While McKenzie was thought to be safe despite a 2-11 season for the Raiders, Schefter reports Davis is ready to spend big to fix the Raiders, and that could be cause for changes involving McKenzie. The former Green Bay Packers' executive joined the Raiders in 2012 and the team has posted a 10-35 record in his three seasons in charge.

With consistent rumors linking San Francisco 49ers' head coach Jim Harbaugh to the team, Davis is ready to make a "major push" for the coach and is reportedly willing to spend money to make changes in the front office as well. Even if that goes against previous comments he made to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com in November.

“We are in really good shape, based on the way Reggie put all the contracts together and everything else,” Davis said. “We’re not saddled with a lot of upside-down situations anymore. The situation he walked into originally was pretty tough. The deconstruction phase of that went very, very well. I think we’re a pretty desirable place for someone that wants to come in and build.”

The Raiders finish the season with a trip to play the Kansas City Chiefs, a home game against the Buffalo Bills and a road trip against the Denver Broncos.
