Drew Stanton could be ready for playoffs, per report

Stanton could return to the field in time for the playoffs despite suffering a knee injury in Week 15.

Arizona Cardinals' quarterback Drew Stanton will miss likely the remainder of the regular season, but could be back in time for a postseason run despite partially tearing his ACL and MCL Thursday, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Stanton reportedly could be ready to return to the field after a month and that means he could be ready for the postseason, especially if the Cardinals are able to secure a first-round bye. Stanton suffered the injury when he was sacked by St. Louis Rams' defensive tackle Aaron Donald Thursday night. He was carted off the field and replaced by Ryan Lindley, who finished the night 4-of-10 passing for 30 yards.

The Cardinals have the NFL's best record at 11-3 and need just one more win to secure a coveted first-round bye. The team finishes the year with a home game against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 16 and a trip to play the San Francisco 49ers in the regular-season finale.

Stanton assumed starting duties when Carson Palmer suffered a torn ACL in early November, and he led the team to a 2-2 record in four starts before suffering injury during his fifth start of the year. He also started three games earlier in the year while Palmer dealt with a shoulder injury. Stanton has seven touchdowns, five interceptions and 78.7 passer rating on the year.

Lindley was selected by the Cardinals in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft and has no touchdowns with seven interceptions in his career with the team.
