FCC can’t stop Tom Brady from cursing

Brady likes to swear when playing football. If you have a problem with that, then go to the FCC.

Stew Milne-USA TODAY Sports

The Federal Communications Commission received three complaints about New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady swearing on television.

Brady was shown venting his frustration with a string of four-letter words during Nov. 30's game against the Green Bay Packers, which was televised on CBS. The audio was not included with the video clip, but it was fairly easy to understand what Brady was saying. In the wake of the incident, Brady explained that it wasn't his fault that the broadcast companies chose to air the footage and expressed that anyone who has a problem with it should direct their complaints towards them.

And they have.

The Smoking Gun obtained -- through the Freedom of Information Act -- three indecency complaints filed to the FCC related to the footage of Brady cursing. One complaint is from an Indianapolis parent who has a 6-year-old capable of lip-reading, a Pennsylvania grandma with an 8-year-old who said that Tom, "should not have said that", and an Iowa resident with a 10-year-old son, via The Smoking Gun:

“An Iowa resident criticized CBS broadcasters who ‘called attention to it by prefacing the clip they showed with, ‘Brady’s reaction after failing to pick up a first down on that series.’ The complainant noted, ‘They clearly knew he was saying it and so did my 10-year-old son ... It was almost as if the announcers got away with it, because they didn’t actually say it. Very unprofessional.’”

Brady is an avid swearing enthusiast and multiple incidents of this have been documented.
