Despite a strong season, the Philadelphia Eagles are fighting for their postseason lives in the competitive NFC playoff race. This week, they hit the road in a special Saturday edition of Thursday Night Football, facing a Washington team whose chances of playing in January ended long ago.

Washington looks to play spoiler to the Eagles’ playoff hopes.
At 9-5, the Eagles are currently on the outside of the playoff picture after back-to-back losses to the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys. The 37-28 loss to the Cowboys last week was especially damaging -- Philadelphia went from leading the NFC East to potentially missing the postseason altogether. Now, to even have a shot at overtaking Dallas in the division, the Eagles have to win their remaining games, beginning with Washington.
Robert Griffin III will start at quarterback against the Eagles after he replaced an injured Colt McCoy during a 24-13 loss to the New York Giants in Week 15. Overall, RGIII played well in relief, but it was mostly a down afternoon for the team, which is now 3-11 and riding a six-game losing streak. All Washington can do now is hope to play spoiler to the rival Eagles and Cowboys to close out the season.
To do so, Washington will first have to slow down a Philly offense that can score quickly and often. Nick Foles remains sidelined by a broken collarbone, meaning Mark Sanchez will still be under center. He's rebounded this season after a tough tenure with the New York Jets, but Sanchez has struggled in the Eagles' last two games, throwing two touchdowns to three interceptions. Running back LeSean McCoy has also been held in check recently, rushing for just 50 yards against the Seahawks and 64 yards against the Cowboys.
But after dropping two games at home, a trip to Washington might just be what the Eagles need to bounce back.
