NFL picks and predictions, Eagles vs. Washington 2014: Experts almost unanimous in picking Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Eagles need a win in Week 16, and experts think they’ll get one.

The Philadelphia Eagles failed to keep control of the NFC East and now face a must-win game in Week 16 to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Eagles lost control to the Dallas Cowboys, but if there's anything going in their favor, it's that they have an easier matchup this week. They'll be taking on Washington on Saturday, while the Cowboys have to play the Indianapolis Colts, who have clinched the AFC South.

Washington has been outright bad for much of the season. They're 3-11 on the year, with a ton of issues on both sides of the ball and an offseason full of uncertainty on the horizon. But Washington does have something to fight for -- quarterback Robert Griffin III is hoping to change the perception of him with a strong performance against Washington's rivals.

Griffin was originally benched in favor of Colt McCoy after struggling over the course of the season. But McCoy aggravated a neck injury and had to be replaced by Griffin in Week 15. He made the most of that game, throwing for 236 yards and a touchdown with 46 yards on the ground. Philadelphia will have to be prepared for Griffin, who will likely be trying to go all-out making plays.

The Eagles led the Cowboys following a dominant win over them in Week 13, but they lost their past two games and trail in the division. They've got Washington and the New York Giants over their last two games, while the Cowboys have the aforementioned Colts and Washington. The NFC East is still very much up for grabs.

As it happens, most experts believe the Eagles will at least put themselves in position to stay competitive. Over at ESPN, all 13 of the experts are going with the Eagles, all eight of the experts at CBS Sports and all six of the experts with FOX Sports are doing the same.

Here at SB Nation, it’s a similar spread, though there is one dissenting opinion. All of Ryan Van Bibber, Stephen White, Joel Thorman, David Fucillo, Danny Kelly, Matt Ufford and the OddsShark Computer are going with Philadelphia, leaving PFT Commenter as the lone expert picking Washington.
