Manziel hurt his hamstring during the second quarter of the Cleveland Browns' 17-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers. The rookie was scrambling to the left sideline when his leg rolled up under Carolina middle linebacker Luke Kuechly. Manziel appeared to be in pain immediately as he limped over to the bench. After a brief examination, the Browns' medical staff shepherded him off to the locker room. He did not return.

The news that Manziel’s season is over was expected in Cleveland after the injury, and the rookie was quick to discuss his hopes to be “the guy” next season for the Browns.
Complicating the Browns' quarterback situation is Brian Hoyer's health. According to Jason La Canfora, Hoyer incurred a shoulder injury and is considered "day to day." If he cannot suit up for the season finale, undrafted rookie Connor Shaw would be pressed into duty.
