Jim Harbaugh to meet with Raiders’ owner Mark Davis, per report

Harbaugh is expected to be announced as the University of Michigan’s head coach Tuesday, but not before meeting with the Raiders Monday.

Jim Harbaugh is expected to meet with Oakland Raiders' owner Mark Davis Monday, according to NFL.com's Mike Silver, despite reports he is prepared to accept the head coaching job at the University of Michigan.

On Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers announced the team and Harbaugh had "mutually agreed to part ways" after finishing the 2014 season with an 8-8 record. In his four seasons with the team, the Harbaugh-led 49ers compiled a 44-19-1 record with three trips to the NFC Championship and one trip to the Super Bowl.

The Raiders haven't qualified for the postseason since losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII in February 2003 and haven't had a winning season since. The 49 total wins earned by Harbaugh over the past four seasons is more than the 47 wins tallied by the Raiders in the last 10 seasons.

A meeting with Harbaugh is likely a longshot for the Raiders, as the coach is expected to be announced as the head coach of Michigan Tuesday, where he will reportedly become the highest-paid coach in college football. Convincing Harbaugh to change his mind and stay in the NFL would almost certainly be costly for the Raiders.

Harbaugh coached the Stanford Cardinal and San Diego Toreros before taking the head coaching job with the 49ers, but was a quarterback coach for the Raiders during the team’s Super Bowl run in 2002.
