NFL picks and predictions, Ravens vs. Dolphins 2014: Two 7-5 teams battle for AFC playoff positioning

The Ravens try to overcome last week’s heartbreaking loss.

The Baltimore Ravens suffered one of the seasons' toughest losses last weekend in San Diego. They attempt to recover this Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

With just six minutes left, the Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco ran in a 1-yard touchdown, giving them a 30-20 lead over the Chargers. That should have been enough to seal the victory, but somehow Baltimore managed to let Philip Rivers march down the field for a touchdown of his own in a little over two minutes and then let the same thing happen again just before the end of regulation. The result was not only a San Diego win, but a significant lost tiebreaker in the AFC playoff picture. The Ravens likely cannot afford another loss within the conference.

As for the Dolphins, they squeaked out a 16-13 victory over division rival New York on Monday Night Football. Trailing most of the game, Miami needed a fourth-quarter comeback to save their season. Down the stretch, quarterback Ryan Tannehill made enough key throws while Lamar Miller added the team's first and only touchdown of the game. Caleb Sturgis had missed a field goal in the first quarter but knocked in the game winner with under a minute to go, earning the Dolphins their first victory this season won by a field goal or less.

The experts are split on whether to side with the Ravens or Dolphins. It’s exactly even on CBS Sports’ eight-man panel.

CBS Sports senior writer Pete Prisco had this to say about the game:

This will have the feel of a playoff game. Both teams are 7-5 and in the mix. Miami is home for the first time in three weeks. That will matter. Ryan Tannehill is playing his best football and that will be the difference.

Here at SB Nation, all but two of our experts are going with the Dolphins.
