Marshawn Lynch unsure about future, wants another Super Bowl ring

Marshawn Lynch’s future is unclear, but he knows he wants another Super Bowl ring to add to his collection.

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Nobody is quite sure what's going to happen with Seattle Seahawks' running back Marshawn Lynch next season. The rumors surrounding Lynch have been percolating all season -- ranging from reports that Lynch is considering retirement after the season due to a painful back injury, to talk of the Seahawks being sick of his refusal to speak to the media, enough to potentially release or trade him this offseason. But Lynch knows what he wants in the here and now: another Super Bowl ring, as he told former teammate Michael Robinson in an NFL Network interview.

Lynch doesn’t like talking to the media, and the league has fined him for his refusal to speak. As he told Robinson, “I ain’t got nothing to say. I just want to play football.” But the veteran running back noted that he’s still under contract with the Seahawks for 2015, and said that he is still “chasing after” another Super Bowl ring.

Whatever does happen, Lynch is just as productive as ever. He finds himself fifth in the league with 212 carries for 956 yards and nine touchdowns on the season, trailing only Justin Forsett, LeSean McCoy, Le'Veon Bell and DeMarco Murray. He's the bell cow of Seattle's offense and it relies heavily on his talent -- the team ranks 29th in the league in passing, and first when it comes to running.

The Seahawks are currently 8-4 on the season, trailing the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West, but are fresh off big division wins in their last two outings. The division title remains within reach and if Lynch is targeting another Super Bowl ring, he certainly has the Seahawks on the right track.
