Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III is getting another chance under center, down 24-0 with less than three minutes left against the St. Louis Rams. Washington is on its way to a 3-10 record, but the team made the switch when Colt McCoy had to leave the game with a neck strain.
Robert Griffin III replaces Colt McCoy against Rams
Robert Griffin III has taken over for Colt McCoy in the fourth quarter against the St. Louis Rams.

Griffin is at the heart of much controversy in Washington. Last season, he was the crux of the power struggle between owner Dan Snyder and head coach Mike Shanahan, leading to the firing of the latter. Then, new head coach Jay Gruden realized that Griffin didn't necessarily fit his pocket-passing scheme and benched Griffin, who has started five games this season, last week.
But there is talk that the ownership still supports Griffin, possibly even over Gruden. With McCoy's injury, Griffin is getting some more time under center, though it's unclear if McCoy will be ready to go in time for Washington's Week 15 game against the New York Giants.
Coming into Sunday, Griffin had completed 83 of 119 passes for 869 yards (69.7 percent) with two touchdowns and three interceptions. McCoy had 67 completions on 89 attempts for 819 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. He threw two picks against the Rams before leaving the game.
