Julio Jones suffers hip injury on ‘Monday Night Football’

Atlanta Falcons' leading receiver Julio Jones left the game Monday night after suffering an apparent hip injury against the Green Bay Packers. Jones appeared to be in pain at various points during the fourth quarter, subbing in and out of the lineup. He eventually went to the sideline for good and sat out the final few minutes of the fourth quarter.

Before exiting, Jones was proving difficult to guard. Matt Ryan looked his way early and often with Jones catching 11 passes for 259 yards and a touchdown, including a 79-yard reception that set up a Falcons' touchdown. It was the second straight monster game for Jones, who racked up 189 yards on 10 catches last week against the Arizona Cardinals.

Although he was forced out early with an injury, Jones did set a new career-high for receiving yards. He now has 1,428 yards on the season, the most of any receiver in the NFL. If the injury causes him to miss significant time, the Falcons will have a major void to fill while they attempt to stay in the NFC South race. Jones has been targeted 147 times this season, nearly 50 more than any other Falcons receiver. His yardage total is more than double Roddy White’s, Atlanta’s second-leading receiver.
