NFL, NFLPA release statements on Ted Wells Dolphins bullying report

The league says it will review the report and make further comments “as appropriate.”

An independent report detailing the Miami Dolphins bullying scandal was released on Friday, concluding that Jonathan Martin was driven to leave the team by chronic harassment from teammates Richie Incognito, John Jerry and Mike Pouncey. What we don't know yet is what kind of disciplinary action the league plans to take.

The NFL released a statement on Friday morning acknowledging the report’s release, but did not go into detail as to if or how it plans to punish Icognito, Jerry and Pouncey.

Our office has received the report of independent counsel Ted Wells, which sets forth the findings of his investigation into the workplace environment at the Miami Dolphins. Consistent with our commitment at the outset of this matter, the full report has been transmitted to our clubs and has been made public. We appreciate the work of Ted Wells and his colleagues and the cooperation of the Miami Dolphins organization in the investigation. After we have had an opportunity to review the report, we will have further comment as appropriate.

George Atallah, Assistant Executive Director of External Affairs at the NFL Players Association, conveyed the NFLPA’s official statement via Twitter:

“We received the report on workplace conditions in Miami today. We will review the findings closely, confer with our players and all relevant parties involved.”

The league will likely take it’s time going over the report before announcing punishment.
