The Tennessee Titans are unsure of running back Chris Johnson's future, and do not even know when they will decide the running back's fate, new head coach Ken Whisenhunt said in a Q&A with The Tennessean.

Johnson has run for at least 1,000 yards in each of his six NFL seasons, but his production has fallen after a lightning-fast start to his career. As a rookie in 2008, Johnson ran for 4.9 yards per carry and averaged 81.9 yards per game while sharing carries with LenDale White.
In 2009, Johnson exploded, leading the league with 2,006 yards rushing while averaging 5.6 yards per carry. He has been unable to get close to that level of production since, rushing for 1,077 yards on just 3.9 yards per rush in 2013.
Whisenhunt said that the Titans still have time to decide on Johnson, who is signed through the 2016 season (a result of a big contract received after his 2011 campaign):
”I am unaware of any kind of bonus situation due with him, or anything that means we have to make a decision like that on him now. So that hasn’t been a factor in evaluating it. We have been here a month, but there is no timetable where you have to make any kind of decision on any player like that. We are going to evaluate it as we go.
Johnson’s backup is Shon Greene, who ran for 295 yards in his first season with the Titans in 2013.
