NFL Combine 2014 results: Underway but not much happening yet

It was a quiet opening day at the combine in Indianapolis as the NFL’s annual player evaluation extravaganza kicked off.

The first day of the 2014 NFL Combine was a "behind closed doors" day as the first group of players arrived in Indianapolis. Kickers, special teams players, offensive linesman and tight ends underwent measurements, medical exams and began the process of interviewing with individual teams.

While not a single player has stepped on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium for any workouts, the buzz is certainly building as the weekend approaches. The likes of Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater and Sammy Watkins will begin their combine experience on Thursday but the real media circus will kick-off on Friday when the defensive lineman group is scheduled to arrive.

Among those arriving on the combine's third day will be Missouri defensive end Michael Sam, a player that will be under incredible scrutiny after coming out on February 9th.

As it is, much of what happened on Wednesday was away from the public eye and mostly basic data gathering. Things will continue to get more interesting as the weekend approaches and the televised on-field portion of the combine begins on Saturday.
