NFL Combine 2014: Schedule and preview for Day 3

The action escalates at the NFL Combine on Friday, with kickers and specialists going through position drills and offensive linemen taking on the bench press.

USA TODAY Sports

Friday will feature nearly the full contingent of invites to the 2014 NFL Combine, with only the defensive backs yet to arrive. No on-field drills will be taking place except for workouts for kickers, punter and specialists, however, so unless that's your thing, you'll have to wait until Saturday to see enormous men brave the 40-yard dash.

With no viewer-friendly testing occurring, there will be no live television coverage. Beginning Saturday at 9 a.m. ET, fans can check out the NFL Network for a live analysis of players going through position drills.

There should be some excitement to follow along Friday in the bench press, however. The offensive line group should put up some of the best numbers in the lift, which tests how many reps of 225 pounds each player can do. Day 1 arrivals will also go through psychological testing Friday, which isn’t televised but could trickle out some interesting stories. The NFL is scrapping the Wonderlic with something called the Player Assessment Tool, which has been designed to produce a better gauge of on-field cognition.

Day 2 arrivals -- consisting of quarterbacks, wide receivers and running backs -- will be in the public eye for a bit when they go in front of media Friday. They will also get their measurements taken to help teams compile incredibly important figures like hand width. Defensive linemen and linebackers will be arriving in Indianapolis on Friday, though they will simply be going through the orientation activities necessary before their real work can begin.

All three groups of players will be taking part in interviews with top brass at individual NFL teams throughout the day.
