The San Francisco 49ers are getting close to a deal with wide receiver Anquan Boldin, as the two sides are nearing an extension, Adam Schefter is reporting.
Anquan Boldin, 49ers close to contract
Boldin was the team’s leading receiver in 2013, his first year with the team.

Must Reads
After seven years with the Cardinals and three with the Ravens, Boldin was traded to the 49ers before last season. He started all 16 games for the first time since 2010 (and just the fourth time in his career), catching 85 passes for 1,179 yards and seven touchdowns while helping San Francisco to an NFC Wild Card berth.
Boldin’s production had fallen a bit in Baltimore, with an offense that did not target him as much as Arizona’s or San Francisco’s, and his 2013 season re-asserted his position as one of the best wide receivers of this generation. He currently ranks 20th on the all-time leaderboard with 857 receptions (fifth among active players), and 29th with 11,344 receiving yards (sixth among active players).
Boldin was San Francisco's leading receiver in 2013, and he and Vernon Davis were the only two players with more than 25 receptions or more than 300 receiving yards. If the signing goes through, the 49ers would get a big part of their passing offense back, hoping to contend for an NFC West crown in 2014.
