Adam Muema turns back up in Florida wearing clothes from NFL Combine

The former San Diego State running back hadn’t been heard from since abruptly departing the combine for religious reasons.

As quickly as he disappeared, Adam Muema has surfaced. The former San Diego State running back turned back up on Friday, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune's Michael Gehlken, ending a bizarre weeklong absence on the heels of his abrupt exit from the NFL Combine for religious reasons.

On Friday morning, Muema strolled into the Florida performance facility where he trained for his trip to Indianapolis -- reportedly still donning the clothes he had on at the combine. His reappearance brought relief to those who hadn’t heard from him in over four days and had begun to worry over his well-being.

“I know he’s fine. I know he’s safe,” someone close to Muema told the Union-Tribune in anonymity. “But I don’t know what happens from here. There are good people that are helping him.”

There has been no indication as to where Muema has been or what he’s been doing in his absence.

Muema, the fourth-leading rusher in San Diego State history, inexplicably decided to skip his combine workout last weekend, then said he was “following God,” as he made his way out of Indy. That brief phone interview at the Indianapolis International Airport on Sunday was the last known contact with the 21-year-old. He said at the time that God had told him skipping the workouts would lead him to his dream of playing for the Seattle Seahawks.

“I’m glad he’s safe, obviously,” the source close to Muema said. “But the last thing I think he needs to be doing is be talking to anyone, on Twitter, media, anything like that. He just needs to get his life right. ... I hope he stops being a story.”

He gave an even briefer phone interview after turning up on Friday, simply saying “home” when asked where he was going.
