Talk of retirement surrounded Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in the week leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII, but the Denver Broncos defensive back told Vic Lombardi of CBS in Denver on Monday morning that he plans on playing in 2014 and hopes that he stays with the Broncos.

Rodgers-Cromartie, 27, said that he was "almost positive" that he would retire if the Broncos defeated the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl. He backed off those claims one day later, telling reporters that he was misunderstood and hopes to receive a long-term contract in the offseason.

A full-time starter for the Broncos in 2013, Rodgers-Cromartie played very well for the team after signing a one-year deal worth $5 million in March. He is set to be one of a few talented young cornerbacks reaching free agency, including Alterraun Verner, Aqib Talib and Captain Munnerlyn.

Rodgers-Cromartie finished the year with three interceptions and 19 passes defended.
