Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice had a huge drop in production during the 2013 season and that was largely due to his decision to play through a hip injury. Rice told Ross Jones of FOX Sports that he "should have thought twice" about attempting to play through the injury.
Ray Rice expresses regret for playing through injury
Rice played through a hip injury during the 2013 season, which proved to be the worst of his career.

“As a professional athlete, you’re never 100 percent. I was good enough to go, but I was limited with the things that I could do. That’s never been me. That’s something as a pro you have to weigh the good and the bad. For me it didn’t work out in my favor this year, but I’ll be smarter.”
Rice, 27, finished with 660 yards rushing and four touchdowns in 2013 behind an offensive line that struggled to pave the way. Both marks were the worst since his rookie season, and he finished with 3.1 yards per carry, his first season under 4.0.
A Pro Bowl selection in three of the four seasons prior, Rice was only able to break nine tackles all season, according to Pro Football Focus. With a hip injury that limited his burst and lateral quickness, Rice expects that those numbers will be much better in 2014.
Selected in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft, Rice is scheduled to make $4 million in 2014 and remain under contract until the 2017 offseason.
