2014 NFL free agency: Arthur Jones, Michael Johnson and more

Free agency is always a frenzy of activity, but we have you covered with the latest news.

With 2014 NFL free agency underway at 4 p.m. Tuesday, many deals are but done with the legal tampering window having begun on Saturday.

For most of the big names out there, a deal has in the works for a few days with one team emerging ahead of the rest. Then there are the other free agents, who are still trying to find that next place to call home. Here is the latest on some of those men.

Michael Johnson

The former Cincinnati Bengals standout appears to be headed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Tampa Bay is looking for pass-rushing help along the defensive line and would hopefully get that in Johnson. First-year head coach Lovie Smith made his bones on the defensive side of the ball, making Johnson a logical fit.

However, it is fair to wonder how much Tampa Bay is getting. Johnson had 11.5 sacks in 2012 but only 3.5 in 2013 despite playing in 15 games.

Offensive tackles moving

If your team needs a left tackle, there is some bad news unless you root for the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens or Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It appears the market will thin dramatically early in free agency, with Jared Veldheer linked to Arizona, Eugene Monroe likely to return to Baltimore, and Anthony Collins set to leave Cincinnati for the Buccaneers, per Jason La Confora of CBS.

With Branden Albert all but signed by the Miami Dolphins, help at the left tackle position is dried up.

Dexter McCluster

The former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver/punt returner is rumored to be going to the Cleveland Browns, according to Matt Miller. New general manager Ray Farmer was in the Chiefs front office when McCluster was drafted and might be able to ink the diminutive speedster, who led the league with 686 punt-return yards last season.

For what it is worth, McCluster starting following the Browns on twitter Monday night.

Arthur Jones

The Indianapolis Colts were very active in free agency last year, and things appear headed that direction again. Defensive end Arthur Jones is reportedly going to the Colts for a high price of $6-7 million per year, according to Aaron Wilson.

The fit makes sense, as Jones is leaving a 3-4 scheme in Baltimore to join another 3-4 defense. Additionally, Jones is very familiar with Chuck Pagano, who coached him as a rookie with the Ravens.

Andre Roberts

The Washington Redskins and wide receiver Andre Roberts have reportedly agreed to a contract, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post. Roberts has spent the majority of his career as the third receiver on the Cardinals, behind Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd.

Roberts has been productive throughout his four-year career, but had a down year in 2013. Roberts only caught 43 passes for 471 yards and two touchdowns, the lowest numbers since his rookie season.
