Eric Decker signs with Jets

The Jets are hoping that Decker can help boost one of the NFL’s worst pass offenses.

The Jets have agreed to terms with free agent wide receiver Eric Decker, according to team insider Eric Allen. The contract is worth $36.25 million over five years, with $15 million, guaranteed, per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

Decker is a 26-year-old receiver who spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Denver Broncos. After two relatively quiet seasons, the arrival of Peyton Manning helped Decker's numbers skyrocket. In 2012, he had 85 receptions for 1,064 yards and 13 touchdowns. 2013 was just as productive for Decker; he had 87 receptions for 1,288 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The Jets need all the help they can get on offense after finishing 31st overall in the league in 2013, averaging just 183.3 yards per game. Decker alone amassed more yards last season tan the Jets two top receivers -- Jeremy Kerley and Santonio Holmes -- combined. It remains to be seen if Decker can equal his recent production with Geno Smith throwing to him instead of Manning.

The Jets also announced the signing of unrestricted free agent Breno Giacomini on Wednesday evening. Giacomini was the starting right tackle for the Super Bow champion Seattle Seahawks' over the past two-and-a-half seasons.
