Steve Smith to Panthers: There will be ‘blood and guts everywhere’

Put your goggles on.

Convinced that Steve Smith's skills are decaying with age, the Carolina Panthers handed the almost 35-year-old wideout his walking papers on Thursday. That of course isn't sitting well with the outspoken five-time Pro Bowler, who painted a scene straight out of The Walking Dead when asked by WFNZ radio what will happen if he plays against the Panthers as a member of another team.

I want to make sure that whatever team I go to, they’re going to get the best, in-shape 35-year-old guy they can get. If that happens to run through Bank of America Stadium, put your goggles on cause there’s going to be blood and guts everywhere.

BLOOD AND GUTS EVERYWHERE, people.

While it may be the most macabre statement Smith’s ever unleashed on the American public, it’s far from the first time he’s delivered a gold standard quote. Let’s celebrate his Panthers career by looking back on some of his best.

5. Steve rips Janoris Jenkins, via NFL.com:

He can take his ass back to St. Louis and watch the f---ing film, ‘cause I don’t play them games. And if I see him in the street I’m gonna bust him in his f---ing mouth.

4. Steve wouldn’t take it easy on his own mother, via Cat Scratch Reader:

I don’t make excuses. All I know is that whoever’s lined up there, when they throw the ball, I’ve got to catch it. If you line my mom out there, I’ve got to catch it over her, too.

3. Steve says what pretty much everyone else has said about Mark Sanchez, via NFL.com:

“He sucks. I wouldn’t let Mark Sanchez throw me a paper bag sandwich.”

2. Then said what we've all said about Tim Tebow, via Xfinity:

“Everybody wants to say Tim Tebow is that difference maker. He wouldn’t be on my son’s flag football team.”

1. Steve gives Aqib Talib some advice after a Monday night win:

Ice up, son.
