A little more than 12 hours after he was arrested for DUI and possession of a controlled substance, Colts owner Jim Irsay took to Twitter to thank family, friends and others for the support he's received since word broke of his arrest.
Jim Irsay tweets appreciation for support following arrest
Deepest thx to family, friends, fans, colleagues for the messages of support, thoughts and prayers. Impossible to tell u how much this means
— Jim Irsay (@JimIrsay) March 17, 2014 Irsay was arrested early Monday morning and charged with four felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and also charged for operating while intoxicated. According to reports, police found prescription drugs in Irsay’s car. Irsay’s comment on Twitter came not long after the Colts released a statement about the situation.
While he’s been released from jail, there is still a lot to resolve, both legally and with the NFL. In addition to possible legal discipline from the five charges, Irsay could also face punishment from the NFL as owners also fall under the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy. The NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell have yet to make an official statement regarding the arrest.
