Chris Johnson trade rumors: Titans RB market ‘heating up’ per report

With Tennessee looking to move on, Johnson will be finding a new home soon.

The Tennessee Titans want to trade running back Chris Johnson, and Johnson is more than willing to leave. Now, if the two can find a trade partner they both like, a deal should get done.

After weeks of silence on the Johnson trade front, the market is starting to get warm, according to Pro Football Talk. Johnson has stated his willingness to take less money if it helps the trade process along, although not by much. Johnson has plenty of power in this deal, having to approve a new contract.

Luckily for the Titans, they don’t have any deadline on dealing Johnson. With no roster bonus due, Tennessee doesn’t stand to lose any money should it hold onto Johnson for quite a while, strengthening its position.

Currently, Johnson is scheduled to earn $10 million in 2014. The Titans won’t cut him because of his value to running- back-starved teams, plus they would be on the hook for $4 million of dead money.

Johnson has been very productive throughout his six NFL seasons, gaining more than 1,000 yards in each campaign. In 2013, Johnson rushed for 1,077 yards and six touchdowns on 3.9 yards per carry.
