The Philadelphia Eagles are interested in signing quarterback Mark Sanchez, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Sanchez was released by the New York Jets on March 21 when the team signed Michael Vick to a one-year, $5 million contract.

The Eagles could flip-flop backup quarterbacks with the Jets, who signed Michael Vick last week.
It would be an interesting flip-flop if Sanchez heads to Vick's former team to back up Nick Foles.

Other teams, including the New York Giants, are still in the mix for Sanchez, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Sanchez, the fifth overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft, struggled in his four seasons with New York. After signing the largest contract in franchise history at the time with a five-year, $50 million deal, Sanchez quarterbacked the Jets to consecutive AFC Championship game appearances only to fall short against Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger.
At 27 years old, Sanchez provides a capable backup quarterback. At this juncture, he would have been hard-pressed to find a starting job but is one of the most accomplished clipboard holders in the league.
Sanchez was underwhelming statistically in his first two seasons, throwing for a combined 29 touchdowns and 33 interceptions. With many thinking the Jets were a Super Bowl favorite heading into his third season, things began to unravel. While he had career highs in completion percentage (56.7), yards (3,474) and touchdowns (26), he also tossed 18 picks and came apart in key moments of the Jets' 8-8 season.
Sanchez really began regressing in 2012, when he threw just 13 touchdowns to 18 interceptions. He also lost eight fumbles, giving him a league-leading 26 turnovers. Sanchez was eventually benched in favor of Greg McIlroy during the last quarter of the campaign.
Sanchez entered 2013 competing with Geno Smith, who was selected to replace him at quarterback. While Sanchez showed fight early in the competition, his season ended with a shoulder injury in the fourth quarter of a preseason game against the Giants.
