NFL pro day results: Jeremiah Attaochu wows scouts at Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech’s Jeremiah Attaochu was one of the standouts of Friday’s short slate of pro days. After skipping workouts at the combine, the defensive end could see his stock soar in the coming weeks.

USA TODAY Sports

NFL pro days are slowing to a trickle, but there are still plenty of big performances to be had. Friday's highlights included defensive end Jeremiah Attaochu at Georgia Tech, Albert Wilson at Georgia State and Garrett Gilbert at SMU. Here's everything to get you up to speed:

Georgia State

Albert Wilson stands on combine numbers

Georgia State wideout Albert Wilson has decided to stand on his numbers from the NFL Combine last month, according to the GSU athletic department. The 5'9 wideout will do position drills instead. In Indianapolis, Wilson impressed with a 4.43 in the 40-yard dash and a 37.5-inch vertical leap.

There were 23 NFL teams in attendance at Georgia State’s pro day, so the wide receiver/kick returner clearly has fans.

Notable prospects:

WR Albert Wilson (projected late-round pick)
CB Trey Wolfe (Fort Valley State, projected late-round pick)

Georgia Tech

Jeremiah Attaochu posts gaudy numbers

So, it seems that Jeremiah Attaochu wants to make sure he is selected on Day 2 of the draft:

For someone who is 6’3, 252 pounds, those numbers are outstanding. Apparently he was so fast, that this was the best picture that the Georgia Tech athletic department could take of the defensive end running the 40-yard dash:

Attaochu sat out drills at last month’s NFL Combine, so his stock could rise very quickly in the coming weeks. He is currently considered a borderline second/third-round prospect.

Notable prospects:

DE Jeremiah Attaochu (projected second/third-round pick)
DB Jemea Thomas (projected late-round pick)

SMU

Garrett Gilbert draws Cowboys’ interest

Garrett Gilbert, a former Texas transfer, was the most-watched player among the 32 NFL teams present at SMU’s pro day. Taking particular interest in the quarterback was Dallas Cowboys QB coach Wade Wilson.

The Cowboys may be looking at Gilbert as a backup with upside to sit behind Tony Romo. Gilbert seemed determined to impress Friday. Fisher noted that Gilbert took several snaps from under center and threw off of three- and seven-step drops to show that he can operate in a pro-style offense. Gilbert also tested well, reportedly running a 4.77 in the 40-yard dash at 6’4, 220 pounds.

No one was more impressed than Gilbert’s head coach, June Jones:

Notable prospect:

QB Garrett Gilbert (projected late-round pick)
