Ravens OT Jah Reid arrested for battery

The reserve offensive lineman is in hot water after a Sunday morning arrest in Florida.

Rob Carr

Baltimore Ravens reserve offensive tackle Jah Reid has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of battery following an arrest in Key West, Fla., the Monroe County Sheriff's Office has released. The situation continues an unfortunate trend for the team this offseason.

According to the website of the sheriff’s office, Reid was arrested around 3 a.m. local time Sunday. He got into a physical altercation at the Red Garter Saloon after a man bumped into him, according to Matt Zenitz of the Carrol County Times. Zenitz reports the 25-year-old head butted the man to the ground, then proceeded to kick and punch him. He also says there is surveillance footage of Reid then “punching [a] security guard in the face multiple times.”

Reid is the third Raven to be arrested over the last four weeks. The most notable arrest was that of running back Ray Rice, who was charged with domestic violence after allegedly striking his fiancee at a New Jersey casino in mid-February. A week later, wide receiver Deonte Thompson was arrested for suspicion of marijuana possession in Florida.

The incident doesn't bode well for a former third-round pick, who has failed to make a major impact in Baltimore. Reid played in 10 games in 2013 but didn't make a single start. With starting tackles Eugene Monroe and Michael Oher both approaching free agency, Reid could have a chance to break back into a starter's role with a strong offseason, but this arrest doesn't help his cause.
