NFL Draft 2014: Ka’Deem Carey selected by Bears in 4th round
Carey was the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2013.
Arizona Wildcats running back Ka'Deem Carey was drafted by the Chicago Bears with the 117th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.
Carey was one of the most explosive running backs in the college game last season, going somewhat under the radar out West. In 2013, Carey amassed 1,885 rushing yards (second best in the nation) on 5.4 yards per carry and 19 touchdowns. Many of his best games were against top competition, including 206 yards and four touchdowns against the Oregon Ducks.
Throughout the season, Carey never rushed for fewer than 119 yards and was only held without a touchdown twice. At 5’10 and 207 pounds, Carey has the size to be an every-down back should that be his role. Carey also showed the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield with 26 receptions for 173 yards.
Carey was certainly more than a one-year wonder, posting an even better season as a sophomore in 2012 when he led the country in rushing with 1,929 yards on 6.4 YPC, totaling 23 touchdowns on the year. He earned All-Pac-12 honors both seasons, and was named the 2013 Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year.
Carey came in at No. 73 on SB Nation’s top 200 big board, which placed him second among all running backs.
