NFL Draft 2014 Round 4 results: A.J. McCarron, Zach Mettenberger, Aaron Murray still waiting

Two quarterbacks went in the fourth round, but a trio of SEC stars are still waiting to hear their names called.

SB Nation 2014 NFL Draft

There were some notable names taken in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, but so far Day 3 is about what names haven't been called. After 140 selections, the SEC quarterback trio of A.J. McCarron, Zach Mettenberger and Aaron Murray remain on the board.

Despite winning two national championships at Alabama, McCarron has failed to impress pro scouts and has been labeled a product of his college team. Both Mettenberger and Murray tore ACLs in 2013. In addition to the knee injury, Mettenberger has been plagued by rumors of a back injury and a diluted drug sample at the NFL Combine. Two quarterbacks were selected in Round 4 -- Virginia Tech's Logan Thomas and Pittsburgh's Tom Savage -- but the three SEC stars are still waiting.

The round began with a run on corners and safeties. Four of the first 10 picks were defensive backs, and a total of 13 went in the round as a whole. Notable among that group are cornerbacks Jaylen Watkins (Florida) and Ross Cockrell (Duke). Liberty corner Walt Aikens became the first non-combine player off the board at No. 125 to the Dolphins.

After no running backs were chosen in the opening round, 14 have been taken in the three rounds since. Devonta Freeman, the first 1,000-yard rusher at Florida State since Warrick Dunn, was the first off the board on Saturday, going No. 103 to the Atlanta Falcons. Ka'Deem Carey is heading to Chicago to back up Matt Forte and De'Anthony Thomas will be running behind Jamaal Charles in Kansas City.

Here are the complete results from Round 4.
